A Senior Associate at PwC is hardly a Senior Consultant at Deloitte. An SA at PwC is probably a Consultant or Analyst level at Deloitte. Unlike Deloitte's BA > C > SC progression, each of which can take 2-3 years at each level, PwC promotes A > SC in 2 years. The EA role was there at one point and even that was a completely joke promotion.
When I was at PwC, the SAs that I staffed on my project could barely even lead client presentations, let alone manage a workstream. Deloitte's SCs could run circles around most PwC Managers.
PwC has historically had to promote people quickly because they lacked a true pyramid across the board. So they'd just promote people and pay them like shit. I think they'll likely start to slow down their promotions due to the cohort model (which is something that they're implementing, which most people hate).
PwC1 > it's not venom. I promise. Sorry if it came across that way.
Left pwc as a SA and joined Deloitte as a SC. A1 is kind a right. I had mangers at pwc that made mountains out of mole hills for no reason, or are very slow to react or wants to cut corners. Now I’m not going to say I am all knowing but I do struggle with some things at Deloitte but I think it is because of the “Deloitte way” and working with a recently promoted manager for my first Deloitte project is kind a shitty. Guy is pushing hard to make a name for himself. Sometimes I sit back and ask for help even though I know how to do the task bc I want to see the “Deloitte way”. At the end of the day. If you are early, prepared, willing to help and learn, and not embarrassed to ask for help. I can’t see how anyone could be upset at an individual
Consultant
A1: why the venom? Not nice to diss your fellow consultants, irrespective of the firm
Gotcha. What Deloitte calls Advisory is PwC's Assurance practice it sounds like. And Advisory for PwC is Deloitte's Consulting practice. I guess Audit and Tax are same across the board.
D2 - Does a Deloitte advisory SM = Consulting M or SM?
Senior consultant
They’re all basically equivalent, maybe with a degree of difference between that pseudo title at PwC of experience associate, that could go either consultant or senior, typically not bumped up to senior though
FYI my comment is only applicable for advisory— forgot consulting had analyst level.
D2 > what's the diff between Deloitte's advisory and consulting?
Advisory is risk based consulting, consulting is your classic S/O.
Advisory has projects that include more assessment work, borders on audit sometimes. In either case, Advisory does not have analyst level, and college hires start at Consultant. In Consulting, college hires start at Analyst then become consultant after a year, which basically offsets the titles by one.
I came from PwC, PwC’s Advisory is akin to Deloitte’s Advisory. They just lump S/O in with Advisory at PwC.
Advisory at Deloitte ~= Assurance but there are many differences.
Agree with Accenture 1.
Deloitte Advisory SM = Consulting M
Damn.
