I do appellate and I’ve never had to do discovery. Everything’s discovered by the time it gets to me.

Not if I can help it!

Appellate.

Should’ve specified besides appellate

Plaintiff side class action

likefunny

Right. But you don’t have to produce your own docs which is the hardest part of discovery

like

The Mainland China Region Practice Group

Criminal defense typically involves less discovery.

like

Fair but you gotta deal with grand jury subs

like

APA/regulatory, but that’s kind of appellate too

like

International arbitration usually has pretty limited discovery. Criminal defense.

Seems to be relatively less discovery in media/1A

ERISA class actions are a huge part of my practice. Tons of discovery.

Hi all,

Need help with a resume review referral or another resource (cover letter critique, etc) you've used that helped you get a job.

Sibling finished up MAin UK (History) w/ 2YOE, now back in US, and has comms/event management/program management experience. But she's having difficulty getting any interviews in the Northeast areas. It's been about 6 months now, and any resources y'all have would be greatly appreciated.

What house plants are NOT toxic to cats? I swear every time I go to buy a new plant and look it up it says “toxic to pets”. I have a dumb cane which I know is toxic but didn’t realize when I bought it so now I just keep it in the laundry room away from my cat when I’m at work but that means no daytime sunlight. Would like suggestions on which plants I can buy that are safe to leave alone with my cat 😸

Tech company lay offs….are they soon to be inevitable?!

There is lots of companies really taking a hit in the tech space. Is this something that people are nervous about? Many seem to still be having a hiring push but with the button falling (IMO this is still just start we have a long way to go to bottom out) will that halt and layoffs ensue? And if so, which depts do you think will get hit the hardest?

Anyone have insight to what the plan is at UpStart for example?

Any Atomic Habit readers here? I’m brainstorming identity-based habits for two things I want to change:

-I want to bill more hours, so my goal is to become the type of person who bills at least 8 a day
-I want to drink less alcohol, so my goal is to become the type of person who drinks occasionally

Neither of these feel that helpful. Any one have suggestions for other identity-based goals that get at these changes I want to make?

I have ADD and occasionally make small mistakes in my work, like leaving a word missing when editing sentences, small formatting errors or leaving an internal comment in drafts sent to clients. All partners have been very understanding and care about the quality of my work, and no client has ever complained. Partners and clients praise my work.

But now, one partner has become super mad and when I explained ADD, he said:
