Got an offer from a secondaries group in a PE firm in SF (<1B latest fund). Had 200 all-in comp in consulting (80%+ coming from base) and bumping up to 230 soon. PE firm is offering 120 base + 90 bonus for Associate position. Does this transition make sense if I ultimately want to become an investor / work in PE? Goal was traditional PE, but no luck there so far with interviews. Also not sure if offer $ is in typical ballpark of what you can expect in MM PE in SF?

I have experience in Management both restaurant, healthcare, and I suppose this particular position counts too I just don’t know how to specify it. I really want to get out of the 35-40k salary range and I have the experience to do it just not the degree. I think I suck at interviews too (I get really nervous and start doubting myself). Looking to transition out of Management Consulting and going into big tech in NYC. Ideally, I would love to go in as a PMM; however I’ve heard it’s very difficult to make that jump if you don’t have a degree in engineering or CS (I’m a liberal arts graduate and in the final year of a part-time mba).
