We have sales people in Canada and the US, the Canadians make 150K CAD and down here it’s 150K USD, the Canadians argue they should be making 30% more than the US colleagues to be equal bc of the exchange! I explain the salary is dependent on the market data for them in Canada, WHERE THEY LIVE, and you can’t compare it to the US employees and the market data down here. Overall they are both in the 75th% for total comp. for their industry. Am I wrong?

Worked in various increasingly responsible roles at the same organization as a FT employee in IT for 17 years and then took a buyout and chilled doing side gigs for 18 months then came back as temporary contract staff for the last 3.8 years as Business Analyst and Technical Writer. Curious to know if I’m being unreasonable in expecting my next Senior BA role to pay in the $110-130k range in the DC Metro Area.

Hello all. My company just went through an acquisition and the company did some restructuring of job titles. When they did this we were all advised the company would be making sure our jobs pay aligned with the national average.
My issue with this is my job title went from a Technical Support Supervisor to a Customer Success Team Lead. I have voiced my concerns with management but have been advised job titles are semantics. In my eyes this is a demotion, and will affect how much my job is worth.

I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?
