Hi Fishes, I have been offered by Cognizant Consulting to move to UK for a short term. However I have my permanent braces treatment going on in India. Can anyone guide if Cognizant Consulting (UK) covers dental treatment in insurance. Can anyone also let me know how much does braces treatment cost in London? Cognizant

NerdWallet says you want $230k
230k salaries are fairly rare in the DC area unless you are in a pretty senior role.
$250k-ish if you want to live in and around the district with the same lifestyle.
Texas, even the cities, are dirt cheap compared to the DMV.
2 BR in Navy Yard is $4k last I checked. Same in NoMa.
1 BR in Gallery Place is $3k.
I mean, you can find places that are less money, but they won’t be “luxury + amenities” type of places, sure. But we aren’t talking about those, and those are even cheaper in Houston, most places in Houston have parking included as well, whereas here, it’s another $200-300/month.
Well, DC has terrible BBQ and probably 0 breakfast taco stands so $100K bump to move there seems about right, TBH.
I think we just became best friends. 😂❤️
Put the 135 into a cost of living salary calculator for a good start.
15-20% difference would be an initial gauge.
$250k or so

Where in TX?
Houston!
In practice, if you want to stay at the same firm, you're probably looking at a 10% increase. Your firm will treat it like a favor to you rather than actually adjusting your pay according to cost of living. Your best bet is to jump to another firm for a meaningful comp increase to offset higher COL.
Will do! I’m not planning on moving until this time next year
