Traffic. Traffic. Traffic
LA is so much better to live in than to visit. It’s huge, and it takes a lot of time to explore and get to know the city. I love how many beaches, hiking trails, and mountains there are. COL is high but on par with Boston/DC and less than NY/SF. Traffic and homelessness are the two biggest issues here, and they’re not insignificant. But I’d rather deal with traffic and have 80 degree weather all year round than spend another winter in the northeast. There are so many neighborhoods here, there’s really something for everyone
Pwc 2 you’re right, it can get down to a brisk 65 😂
I like it a lot, probably because I don’t deal with traffic much. I take public transport and Ubers occasionally.
Love the weather, the proximity to nature (sea, hiking etc) and how my money goes further than in NY in terms of quality housing. General sense of people being laid back and down to earth has been a treat, although the kylie jenner wannabes (and the bros who love them) can be a bit annoying at times.
From my perspective, LA is actually one of the most diverse cities I’ve lived in in terms of types of people you encounter. You obviously have the Hollywood chasers/Insta famous folks, but you also have the tree huggers, hippies and everything in between.
it’s actually sick compared to the midwest. yeah more traffic but better drivers and i dare say nicer people. less cliquey if you can believe it. people aren’t judging you based on what high school you went to.
Wow the high school thing is so real in my home town 😅

Great place to live. Traffic doesn’t affect me one bit /is a non-issue.
I live in Marina Del Rey, when I go to the office, it’s Manhattan Beach, weekend traffic is usually fine and there’s rarely a need for me to traverse town at peak hours on a workday (and if there is, public transport is getting better or I avoid freeways).
I grew up in MN, went to WI for college, then Chicago for a handful of years and now I’m in LA. The only thing that would get me to move back would be double salary. And even then I’d have to weigh my options seriously.
Speaking from experience. I moved to LA from Seattle about a year ago. Had always lived in and around Seattle prior. LA is awesome. It’s absolutely massive. You can find a neighborhood that fits what you are looking for easily. It’s nearly impossible to picture how big it is. Honestly you can find a neighborhood that fits your style and make it feel like a home. Granted the traffic is very real, which depending on your travel schedule can be perfect. I’ve never commuted to a local client and am very grateful for that. Feel free to DM
Thanks, I’ll take you up on that!
LA is great. Commute sucks, but weather, food, beach, sports, outdoor activities, and great night life.
I loved it!
I second traffic. Also hard to be local. You’ll be on a plane all the time.
