Job-Hunting reach-out to VC from previous fundraising effort for own startup
I have e-mail archive from 1y ago of my reach-out to 65 VCs in London: we had video calls, they might remember me still, who knows.
I want to send a reply/forward message to the same e-mail thread from abc@gmail.com, saying that I am looking for roles within their VC firm. Is that a good idea?
Or shall I just start new email thread and mention how I know them?

In my experience: anywhere from a day to 6 weeks. For the job offer I received that took 6 weeks after final interview, I would reach out to the recruiter once a week to check status. They responded right away each time, which was a good sign. Other jobs where it lead to rejection it was just crickets when reaching out. Just keep applying and interviewing until you accept an offer. A lot of companies when they find the right candidate tend to relax and not communicate with you when they decide to offer you the job.
A1 it’s a role at @Barclays
Did you interview recently for this position, OP? If yes, then please don’t stress out. It’s typically a high vacation period- so there could easily be a delay in decision making that has got nothing to do with you.
I hear and I wish you all the best in the world! I understand it can be incredibly stressed period especially since we are heading into a long weekend- but keep you head high. All the very best again :)
That’s a tough question to answer accurately but typically time can be an indicator that you may not be successful and other things are taking place in the background. If you haven’t heard within a 3-4 working days I would recommend that you call to follow up and explore what is causing the delay. As per a previous comment, usually companies have a good idea if they want to progress or hire you in a day or two.
It’s too late for this situation but I would recommend next time you interview you should close the interviewer by asking a number of questions to ease out potential objections and to understand next steps and time scales :
“ Are there other candidates that you need to interview and when are these interviews taking place “
“ How do I meet you spec when it comes to the type of person you are looking to recruit”
“ When can I expect to hear back from you and ?”
“ What is the next step after this interview if I am successful”
If they say in a few days and you don’t hear then you have been given the green light to follow up . Good luck !
Update in case anyone has further insight to this situation: apparently they are deliberating now on whether to bring me on or another candidate with far more experience. They aren’t sure of the seniority of the position. Though the job posting didn’t make it seem like a crazy senior role. It’s been between the two of us since the beginning of July. They keep rescheduling calls with my references. I’ve already sent thank you emails, interacted on LinkedIn, told the recruiter my interest. 🫠
Oh! Usually if they go as far to check references it’s a good sign but it doesn’t mean offer is on the way. Employers typically will not call references unless you’re in top three or the top candidate. Fingers crossed for you my friend!!
Job offer, typically next day or two days after. Rejection, like a week. From my experience.
I’ve had to wait a month after a final interview to find out I got the job.
Can I ask what the title of the role is?
