First you must get a person with the qualities you wish to have, that you seek to achieve, and then approach that person to learn everything you need to learn.

A mentor does not need to be the highest ranking person, it should be a person you admire and who is most familiar with the challenges you will face. When identifying your mentor I recommend you plan a meeting to determine if the relationship is appropriate.

I got my mentor a year after I joined the army, he was not the person most people choose to mentor but I saw in him all those skills and abilities that I hope to achieve one day. I simply approached him at an opportune time and asked him to help me become like him.

If you're looking for a mentor in the military, the best way to find one is to reach out to your chain of command or someone you know who is already in a mentorship role. There are also online resources like Military Mentor that can help connect you with a mentor who is a good fit for you.

The best way to find a mentor in the military is to ask around. Talk to your friends, family, and other veterans to see if anyone they know can help guide you through your military career.

I’m 25 and have found a duplex I’m considering purchasing as a rental property. Planning on renting both units and have the cash to make the down payment without an issue. My cash flow analysis has a payback period of 3 years for my down payment and a 13 year payback period for the whole investment. I think financially it makes sense. My question is, is it realistic for a 25 year old young professional to handle dealing with all the extra curricular’s that come with owning a rental property ?

I got a job as a infrastructure consultant right out of college 3 years ago and later became a solutions architect at the company I am at now. I have a degree in CS and never really got the chance to use my programming skills (Java, python, Springboot framework). I’m finding that I’m not really in to platform engineering or cloud infrastructure and would like to pivot to software/app development. And suggestions on where I could get started on making this transition?

I currently work at a large research institution and am in the process of getting retroactively reclassified to a new title (Long story but my PI is cheap and routinely pays ppl the bare minimum so now the Union is helping me w/ a retro reclass.) Reclass can take 2 - 6 months to process. Meanwhile, I am interviewing for industry job. If I get an industry job, what do I do if my reclass isn’t processed yet? I want the title and the money owed which may be about $15000- 20000.

Just got a “Sheraton Vacations” special offer to basically get 5 nights at a Florida property for $250.

I read the fine print and other than a need to be flexible in terms of when you book, it doesn’t seem like there is a catch.

Anyone familiar with this “promotion” and what the downside might be? Or are they just looking to drive revenue to their other areas (restaurants, spa, etc) with a cheap room?
