I wish I would have been more confident when asking. I knew the value I provided and brought it up but I said "if possible" and I think i could have been more firm and confident when asking.
My last one went well, they came in with a high number but I was still confident enough to push for more.
The mistake I made before was not negotiating at all.
I think I didn't realized how emotional salary negociating can be, for both. I let frustration get in the way when the candidate pushed back hard, and it made the whole process tense. If I could redo it, I’d go in with more flexibility and a clear walk-away point instead of trying to wing it under pressure.
Just accepting the wage they offered without question.

When I was presented with the offer, I countered but they came back and said that they wouldn’t budge because it was the end of the year and there was no budget. I wish in hindsight I would’ve asked if that was the final offer and tried to negotiate at least a little more. But I just accepted and probably left money on the table
