What's the TC range for large banks (Goldman, Citi, Morgan Stanley, etc.) with 9-10 YOE? Thinking of jumping ship to in-house in financial services and wondering what comp range to expect.

Also, any notable pros or cons of going in-house to bank?

Maybe the pay is worth it but you will likely find the role and work very boring and find it frustrating how hard it is to move the cogs of such a giant institution from your position. I recognize that it’s not necessary comparable but having seconded at a large bank, I can’t imagine going in house to one of these positions outside of a maybe a very senior role. You’re also often expect to respond on weekends/evenings depending on the circumstances. It’s not as cushy as other exits while also lacking the interest.

I moved in house at a large bank with 7-8 yoe. Total comp around 240k. So probably a little higher with 9-10.

You are probably looking at around 250k.

I’m currently at a medium sized tech startup. I was interviewing for a role that would be a bump in pay and title at a multinational public F50 company. At first, the hiring manager and head of legal were very complementary about my experience. Almost too much so. After a week of interviews with the team (softball-esq), I was informed that if I wanted to join, they would bring me on at a lower title. I’m not sure about comp yet. But if comp is still an increase + experience at a public..

Kind of niche question here but under NY CPLR, if a plaintiff files a MTD/MSJ, and then the defendants file opposition papers containing information that the court had previously ordered to be kept under seal, would you a) file a reply asking to seal/strike the opposition papers or b) file a separate OTSC since you’re now seeking additional relief not sought in the original motion?

Some good news after almost 11 months of applying and interviews and lots of rejections finally got an offer! In NYC small firm, ex big law folks, no billable hours, niche practice area, appearance of forwarded thinking firm, remote till who knows when, emphasis on pro bono initiatives and building book of business. The catch salary. Was making around 140k at last firm with 1800 billable. Offer is 85k and revist to bump to around 100k in several months after review (plus discretionary bonus)
