I’m going to be acting manager for 18 months before the official title promotion. Should I accept that as normal?
Who still goes to firm happy hours? Raise your hand because I do NOT want to go today and could use convincing otherwise
Got passed up for a promotion and been emotional and frustrated. I'm trying very hard to not let it impact my work by my direct supervisor likely notices that I'm down and I've haven't been able to hide my feelings very well. It's all amplified by the pandemic struggles. I feel bad for being like this, it's been a few weeks and struggling to turn it around, and I know my supervisor shouldn't have to deal with this. Should I talk to them and apologize?
Someone want to explain how everyone in consulting can be this duped... we accept promotions for more responsibilities without knowledge of compensation... that literally doesn’t happen anywhere else. How dumb are we? Ps. I don’t count myself, I’ve never taken a promotion without jumping firms :) though plan on doing it next year - as SM
Wanted to wait until after promotion notification to bring up a transfer. How long to wait now so it doesn’t seem too obvious that was my reasoning? I have about five months before I need the transfer
Manager 1. Transfer from audit into FDD (and have to do one more busy season in audit), or leave to a financial reporting job at a large public co for 40% raise?
I’d love some help thinking through this. I’m currently renting for $1600 base ($1800 total) and live in the least desirable part of town, and expect it to raise to about $2k/month. I was planning to buy my first property in the city and Airbnb part of it, but it will take me about a year to save up the cash (~$500k starting). Eventual goal is to move more rural but trying to build to FI. I found a property in my ideal dream location for $280k but it needs work, and can’t Airbnb it. Continued
Has anyone leveraged an offer at another firm to get a raise at their current firm? If so, were you successful and were there any long term impacts within the current firm because they think you tried to bail? (Getting recruited by other firms for higher TC but enjoy current firm’s project types more.)

Have an approved i140 and getting a promotion from Mgr to Snr. Mgr. Does it require any filings or adjustments with USCIS?
Still trying to recover from my crt convo a week ago -- feeling beyond dejected... I got a 4.. I feel like that's a gentle nudge to go -- this is a promotion year for me and seems like there is no way
How much does reapplying to a school you didn’t get into better your chances the second year…this being a hail Mary year for me, wanted to know if it shows growth/dedication should a promotion happen for me in the interim (HBS primarily)
Joined straight out of college, thoughts on how long I should wait before moving offices? Any detriment to making the switch in a promotion year?
Anyone can share insights on what is the average salary raise and bonus at Grant Thornton and Moody's investors service? Also, what should be the salary expectation range for a 6+ YOE, MBA, CFA ,FRM for New York Location in the financial services industry?
For those who did get promoted, esp. from Senior to Manager, how did you feel about your chances throughout the promotion year? Any signs at all or you are just in the dark until they tell you?
First year level 9 (consultant) expecting to hear about pay raise this Wednesday (will be minimal) I am leaving the firm and new offer wants me to start on 11/26, should I ask to start 12/4 so I can..
The belief that you should be able to move from HCOL to LCOL and not have to take a pay cut is ultimate in socioeconomic and geographic privilege and outright entitlement. Nobody is going to give LCOL a raise to move to HCOL. The work you do is the same, you produce the same value, bill the same rate as peers in another geography. Take a pay cut or give LCOL a significant raise.
Do partners at top consulting firms have better WLB? An Associate here contemplating whether all this is worth it. Thanks!
Can i remove my frustration here? 1. After last round of interview another interview with development team is requested (sick of these interviews) 2. Received an internal offer which is blocked by current project lead stating company policy is to keep 8 week of buffer period (fuck them) 3. Current client don’t want to say what they want instead asking what can the 3rd party vendor offer, we will evaluate and give your requirements (were they sleeping when they signed contract)
Align to non-M&A offering but do a lot of work in the space (DD, integrations). B4 recruiter reached out and wants me to provide resume for review with hiring partner in M&A space. Does it work if I provide a bio with summary of M&A projects (client names removed) instead of a traditional resume? Also plan to list education and past experience but primary focus on recent M&A work
Anyone exit to the OCC? Thinking about doing it but seems you cannot apply directly to the banker examiner position. Can only apply to assistant examiner position or non examiner position.
Does anyone else feel like management likes to make staff the butt of every joke? It’s pretty much locker room talk every time staff spend time with management (lunch, travel, etc).

For those who have roommates and contracted covid, how did you and your roommate(s) dealt with the situation sharing an apt? Did everyone just end up with covid? Looking for tips/tricks and how long the whole process took.
How much leeway do you have when negotiating start dates? I would like to start in Jan since I save most of my PTO for the holidays. If I start in Nov/Dec I either won’t be able to take it or will start in a hole. Plus new job offers WAY less PTO (VP thought it was 10 days to start vs my current 25, but am currently waiting for formal offer from HR).

Been on bench for 2 months now. Currently in the interview process in the industry. Senior leadership is looking for internal resources to staff on internal “COVID-19” related project. TBC
Pre-covid did B4 have Holiday/New Years parties?

Job opportunity in Miami: seeking a digital creative who knows how to think of big ideas for social (has a foot in art and copy) for an agency gig. It’s mainly for a pharma client but lots of other brands are at the agency. Remote for now. One day in Miami. Hmu if you’re interested!

Thoughts on applying to roles at FAANG that your qualified for but don’t see yourself doing long term just to get your foot in the door, then trying to pivot—anyone have experience doing this?
There’s no better feeling than getting into a top 2 business school after being denied a promotion + being discriminated against in a toxic work environment (sorry for the humblebrag, just so excited to leave my job)
California CPA exam - if I only received an NTS initially for two exams, to get the NTS for the last two, do I need to reapply to the CBA and mail in the $50 reapplication fee?
