Lol BCG1
What happened OP?
Nothing happened. Doing well at BCG (above Ohio last cdc)... and enjoy Consulting... just have heard that at Point B and Slalom the work life balance is a lot better, not much travel if you don’t want it, and working remotely is an option (e.g. trying to live in a location BCG doesn’t have an office). Trying to do some DD
OP, Ex-Slalom here. Slalom has been consistently ranked among the best places to work. Consulting magazine ranked BCG #1 and Slalom #2 in a recent ranking.
So, work-life balance and culture is great. No unwanted travel. That's where the comparison stops when comparing with MBB.
Slalom usually does not compete with MBB typically. We did beat McKinsey once in New York.
Salary is comparable to the Big 4 and Accenture.
No comparison with MBB especially the generous bonuses.
Dude I'm not sure how long you've been at BCG but seriously, don't. Just work for as long as is needed to get into industry and do like internal consulting or something. Use that MBB pedigree to it's max potential.
Consultant1 thanks for the info. When you say work/life balance is great, what does that means in terms of daily hours, weekend work, stress? I can’t imagine doing industry but also am not a fan of the unpredictability and 60+hour weekly grind
Consultant1... not sure of which practice or anything. Just wanted to get an initial read here. What’s the salary like for a 2 year out post MBA?
I joined 2 years out of MBA from a ranked#34 school at $130k base.
OP, don't leave BCG for Point B or Slalom, unless you go at a Principal Consultant position. Get a promotion to Project Leader and switch to industry.
Also switching to either point b or slalom. Comp was in line with big 4. Received 15% bump to 110k. It's local if you want to be.
OP, there was never weekend stress during my 1.5 years at Slalom. Usual work week is 40-45 hours.
What do you do at BCG? Which practice in Point B or Slalom are you looking at?
