When a junior associate sends you research, what steps do you take to review it and make sure they haven’t missed anything, particularly when you’re not familiar with the area of law they are researching?

Whenever I do research I do my Research Summary in a Word doc and hyperlink to files on our system as citations. So if I’m referencing a website - print to pdf. Highlight relevant portion. Save to research directory. Link directly to file in Research Summary. Makes it a breeze for whoever needs to review.

Nothing - I trust them to do the work correctly. If I didn’t trust them, I would do it myself, or find someone I do trust.

And if I didn’t know the area of law, I definitely would have done it myself at a high level to get the main concepts, and then had the associate fill in the gaps.

I’m all about trust but verify.

Has anyone else worked two programming roles at one time?
I currently work as a Contracted Software Engineer and I’m set to finish my contracted time at the end of October. To stay ahead of game I started to move forward in the interview process with another opportunity as an Application Software Programmer and just received notification that I got the position. I definitely could use the extra paycheck to help out with my financial obligations. Just wanted to see if anyone has done this before.

I'm a third year plaintiff's employment law attorney and I'm looking to move to defense, preferably still in employment law. I received an offer from a midsize firm that primarily focuses on PI with little-to-no employment law practice, so I'll have a bit of a learning curve. Offer is $90k, billable hours of 2100. Is this reasonable? I'm dead-set on leaving my current job, and this would be a $20k pay increase - which makes me believe I'm leaning towards taking it for those reasons only.

Does anyone know how litigation finance works on the plaintiff side? If someone wanted to bring a lawsuit against their former employer would a general contingency arrangement with a plaintiff’s firm make sense? Or would one need to find funding and then contact a plaintiff’s firm to actually handle the case? I’m a transactional lawyer, so this is out of my wheelhouse.
