Cringe level infinity

By the fourth paragraph the orchestra music should have swelled loudly to play him off. Hope he finds a nice place in his trophy case for the $10 Starbucks card that was the actual award.

Did you see ALL THE NAMES I had to blank out? This is a 300 person startup, OP pretty much had everyone mentioned.

I literally saved my company a couple hundred thousand dollars one time. Didn't even get a thank you. LOL.

But I'll tell you what--if I had gotten some recognition, I sure as hell wouldn't post about it on LinkedIn like that.

I quadrupled my department’s revenue over the last 18 months. Target was a 30% yoy improvement. My boss gave me a $2000 hike AND a $45 Amazon gift card. I think I deserve a LinkedIn post lol.

I assume he works for the US Army and was awarded the Medal of Honor. Nothing short of that deserves this level of celebration.

Omg THAT is truly the most cringe. Amazing.

Seriously though, how much money did he get with the award? Must have been six figure award, otherwise...

funny

This is a monthly award. No monetary component attached. My EA literally changes the name on a ppt template and sends it out to our distribution list.

The award

To those wondering what the award is, it’s called the GEM award - Going the Extra Mile. This person came into work 2 hours early on a workday to test if 6 demo computers were working before an event on that day. We routinely give this to folks who do something extra every month. This award has no monetary value. I get people being grateful for recognition, but this is just some next level detachment from reality.

How were they able to post it with a straight face, while I am dying of second hand embarrassment just by looking at it?😩

How will they ever top that next year?? The bar has been raised. Stuff dreams are made of… 🤮

lol this is akin to an employee of the month award but at the department level without any monetary compensation. Every department hands this out as recognition, EVERY MONTH. There are people with 20 of these.

Anyone ever have experience negotiating a new offer to include unvested 401k match and stock grants from your current employer? I hate leaving money on the table but there are some good roles out there. I’m not fully vested in my current 401k yet and my stock grants haven’t matured yet either. This would be at a global director level.

This is the very definition of privilege

Able to post something so absurdly wrong (Google PMs in the comments explaining that she transferred ladders when she switched jobs internally, hence pay change)

Able to become a product manager at Google and STILL not comprehend how misleading the race aggregation stat is “Black women make 58 cents to every $1 a white man makes!” not taking into account job choice and individual opportunity.

..all while the comments are filled with blind support

Does anyone else feel that the more content someone puts in their LinkedIn headline, the more full of it they are? I say this as someone with a bunch of stuff lol but at least it’s all at one company and accurate.

I’m talking mostly about two kinds of people. 1. The influencer who is actually unemployed, but lists 25 BS things they do
2. The brand collector, who writes “ex-“ for every former company they worked at and school they went to. Maybe less full of it but still insufferable.

There really is such a direct correlation between cringey title and cringey posts.

Before LinkedIn...to me, the king of professional cringey was Shingy. Do you guys remember him? He was aol's overpaid "digital prophet" and got paid to visit companies at lunchtime and babble the same kind of nonsense we now call "LinkedIn cringe".
