When deciding what research direction or project to pursue, what signals do you personally use to judge future impact? Citation trends, industry demand, policy direction, technical feasibility, mentor advice, something else? Trying to compare how different researchers make this call to see stay in the loop overall.

I follow the funding, personally. It's pretty easy to see where the money is going. I prefer to work on projects that can maintain funding over the long term, if possible.

Hi fishes, does bosch renegotiate?

So… 3.5 year relationship came crashing in Jan due to covid depression, work burn out, lockdown etc. We have stayed in contact and recently he has come around to apologizing and considering getting back together. However he also revealed he started seeing someone casually 4 weeks ago and technically is cheating on her by meeting me for coffee and to discuss this. I’m upset that he’s dating others but shouldn’t be right? I mean, I did the same. Still hurts though. And I told him to sort that out

I accepted a new offer and put in my notice this week and my company provided a counteroffer. The offer is lower than my new offer but I know it’s the best they can do. Financially I do need the money but I’m also tempted to stay because my current team is so great. I have 2 questions 1) when does it make sense to prioritize workplace happiness/ balance over financial well-being? 2) if I go back on my offer acceptance should I consider that bridge burned?

Ladies: looking for gym recommendations. Me: mid-40s, out of shape mom. I have chronic acid reflux that does get in the way of workouts at times. Prefer strength training over cardio and small group settings. Mixed gender is fine, but I generally prefer a community of folks closer to my age. Does such a place exist?

Location: Tarrytown/ Westlake ideal. Can travel as far north as the Central Market on N Lamar and as far south as the Central Market off of Westgate.
