Yes, so hard to plan! now is a good time! It’s good to know who is taking over your work and to have calls to discuss background, where matters stand, upcoming deadlines, so if baby comes a little early people aren’t totally scrambling.
Definitely start planning now. I had to deliver unexpectedly at 35 weeks, luckily I had been keeping detailed notes on my cases so someone could just step in and take over. I’d keep a spreadsheet of tasks and deadlines and update it every few days.
Better to start early and then hopefully your backup people can join in seamlessly once you're officially out! Or if there's a natural transition point and you don't care about hours, go for it as soon as your backups are ready.
I think I stopped accepting new projects at around 36 weeks bc by then I had scheduled my induction for 39 weeks and for most things it wasn't worth my jumping in just to jump out in less than a month. Other things I would start copying my backup around week 37-38 after having a transition chat so they could review the file and get up to speed and ask questions while I was still available.
