In this market, see it through. If you get an offer you can use that as leverage for your current role or in another interview.
I've bowed out after first round interviews before when I knew I didn't want the job and didn't feel like faking it through the interview process. Since it's early in the process and you know you would not want the job, just email the recruiter that you changed your mind or you decided to go in another direction for your job hunt, and be polite about it. I think there are templates online for this sort of thing that can help you craft something nice.
If you think there's a possibility you'd be swayed with a possible offer then see it through to the end. At best, you'll up your interview skills, learn about a company's inner workings and know how much your current skills are worth. 🤑
I’ve been in that position but I keep going. Sometimes the next person I meet changes my mind. In 2 cases I didn’t end up taking the job, but I’m always glad I saw it through so I was sure I made the right decision. The trade off is that you feel a lot worse saying no when you’ve made it to the end.
Exit early. If you know you don’t want it don’t waste everyone’s time and money.
