Think about it this way, if your employer was going to fire you or lay you off, would they give you a two week notice? Nope. So don’t feel obligated to return the favor. Plus I know many employers will take your two weeks notice and use it as a reason to fire you on the spot.
I have always given 2 weeks. I believe it to be a bad look to give less notice and I'm not a fan of burning bridges.
That said, I've served up to the director level and have over 30 years in the industry. If one of my employees gave less than two weeks notice, I'd assume they are doing what's best for them and wouldn't judge them. I fully recognize many companies aren't going to give employees notice when they are terminated for whatever reason so some people use that as their rationale for short notice.
If I was leaving to take a better position elsewhere, I would provide a two-week notice and my appreciation for the opportunity to work for the organization. If the move was provoked by a negative incident at work, I would offer my two-week notice and let them know that my last day could be that day if they prefer, and give them an explanation as to what prompted me to leave. I would always give two-week's notice because it is the right thing to do. It gives the company time to start looking for my replacement and do all the paperwork they need to do.
I would always give the two week notice. It's just the normal and traditional thing to do. I suppose if you really had it in for the people you worked for you might want to just skip out on them and leave them unprepared. But that would be pretty unprofessional and could come back to haunt you at some point.

Nope think I’d always do the 2 weeks notice
