When switching careers, is it better to take a job that pays higher now or one with a lower salary that seems to have more potential for growth down the line?

I have been working for a large corporation for over a year and I new to the company. What re peoples opinions about seeking a promotion or applying for internal jobs? Do you make a move or do you stay in position longer?

Why do firms fire people with low but still profitable hours? She said they had a busy week last week but will make a final decision this week - is the delay and radio silence a bad sign or is this typical for experienced hiring?
