What does a home run hire for this role look like 6 months from now?
Why did you originally join and what’s kept you here?
"What do I need to do to help you meet your goals? What could I do to help you be successful in your role?"
Agree with CSM1. The ones I like are the non canned ones that show that you really engaged in a conversation.
I think the ones above are great suggestions for questions to ask but to me they’re more of a prereq as opposed to extra credit.
Base it on your previous conversation instead of a canned question
"What do I need to do to be in your role this time next year?" Definitely memorable lol
‘What’s your handicap?' Shift it beyond work, assuming you’re comfortable with the relationship you’ve established. Or, if you want to keep it about work, two go-tos for me are, ‘Looking back on your career, what was your favorite project and why,’ or, ‘Knowing what you know now, would you take this role?'
Need an insightful question about what he was just speaking about that demonstrates you were listening, absorbing, and understand his business.
There's no right answer here. You need to feel out the conversation and personality of the interviewer. Amazing question could be what was your favorite social event for one of your teams or it could be why do you think clients continue to use your team, and different people would think either of those questions is cheesy and not genuine
Nice one Manager 2, I want to know the answer to that one! :)
What’s your practice current consulting market share in your industry? What’s the teams strategy to grow it?
Maybe ask something relevant to the industry you're interviewing for rather than kissing his ass with a stupid brown nosing question. Just be prepared to have a stance/opinion of your own.
For gods sake, don’t ask “what keeps you up at night”. Ranks as one of the most unimaginative q’s ever. I typically answer it literally if asked
What do you mean by stand out?
