When you find yourself in a meeting where everyone keeps going off on their own tangent, how do you get people back on track? I usually want to shout what the hell are we talking about, but this seems unprofessional.

Having an agenda helps.
If someone goes on a tangent, say something like - let’s put a pin in that and get back to our agenda.

It's, really, situational... You could always try to find something to bounce off of one of the side bars that feeds back into the main topic. Or you could just apologize and do the, "I would love to hear everyone's comments/concerns/questions...(and, maybe, offer time after or email them or drop them into a comment box or jar to be reviewed later...) but, unfortunately, we only have so much time to discuss the topic at hand" and circle back to it. If you have lots of time, maybe let the Convo sidebar a little...helps you hear the questions or comments that may not have made their way to you, otherwise... Also, helps give people who are upset about something, a place to let it out... Also, you can get ideas and such from sidebar convos. A lot of sidebar Convos still have some relevance to the main topic, at least initially... They are like a space to test the waters on what you have to say and see if others feel the same or like your idea...before bringing any opposing or other ideas to the big discussion. Now, if it's just like meeting turned into a locker room gathering... I would call attention to the topic at hand and why it is important to focus on that instead of leisurely conversation "although it is wonderful to have coworkers who get along so well" and offer to come back to their question or comment at a later time. Planning a meeting and giving a little extra discussion time always helps you know when you gotta nip the sidebar or save it for later. Meeting minutes are nice, in some situations. For everyone.

Just move it along

So spent the last 30 hours working through this trying to books with points. Still nada. Anybody else have luck?

Currently renting for ~ $1500/mo in a low COL city. My lease ends in Dec and am looking to purchase a property and get into rental game. I have $40K in bank, but I’m not sure what my max investment should be or will be approved for. Would it be feasible to keep renting and also try to rent out a purchased rental property given my liquid cash?

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the most, how pissed would you be if you were a supervisor and you had a new direct report on your team with a higher salary than you? The years of experience are the same, but you have 3 designations (they have 0), you have 3 licenses (they have just 2), they have little to no experience with technical complex claims (you have hundreds), and you have 3 years in management (they have 0).

I have family members who are inside claims reps for a large company. The company sends out emails 4 times/day showing who is currently not available for calls. To everyone working in claims in the entire country! It’s been a minute since I worked in claims. And never for this particular company. But is this shaming the new way to manage WFH.? Sounds at least toxic.

How does underwriting compare to PIP litigation in terms of flex time (ability to stop/start work throughout day, work at 2 am if needed, etc)

For example.. in PIP Litigation I can review my suits at 2 am if needed (as a result of having a rough day or other emergency) and still be in compliance

Does Underwriting carry any time sensitive tasks?

Hello all, i have. A question regarding compensation for a lateral move. I just received a job offer for an UA position from a competing cyber insurance carrier for $70,000 + bonuses. This job will be based out of San Francisco. I currently make $30/hour for the same role in Chicago, after OT it’s about $60,000. Do you think it would be wise to accept the offer? Thoughts in general?
