Salaries in Singapore and the low taxes make it difficult to move away from here. I moved to Singapore from Netherlands with 56% income tax and 21% GST. Comparing my take home pay in EUR everything here felt cheap.
I see on Glassdoor MBB TC for Consultant around 500k myr year for Malaysia and for Singapore around 230k sgd . Not sure the numbers correct - but it is $110k usd vs $163 usd. tax rate in Malaysia seems to be 24% vs 19% - which is another $5k . So net seems like Singapore is 50% more cash (some $50k usd for consultant ). I found proportionally same numbers for principal level ( the difference is going up to $100k usd ). Is it directionally correct ?
Difference in pay is less (some short term currency variations may drive higher difference though). On senior levels there is no material difference in pay between the countries. Yes, tax is lower in Singapore (effective tax rate will be lower than 19%), but Singapore is also extremely much more expensive.
Just to note - the property market in Singapore is completely overheated and rent has gone up a lot just the last 6-12 months. This is expected to continue a while longer. KL is opposite , there is oversupply as people left during Covid.
So if you are optimising for money and lifestyle, KL or Bangkok. If you are optimising for safety and efficiency then Singapore.
Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok because the cost of living is lower there compared to Singapore.

They pay 55k rm a month for a consultant in KL?

Considering taxes + safety + infrastructure + decent income I would say Singapore if you are working in tech or T1 consulting.
Otherwise maybe KL of BKK.
Depends on a lot of things - kids, any big medical expenses etc.
If you’ve got 2 kids and are sending them to international schools: SG makes most sense if family income is over 500K; else MY/ID/TH.
Obviously this is purely from a financial perspective.
KL or Bangkok for MBB pay. Singapore does not even come close. Salaries are similar to Singapore (same on senior levels), and much lower cost of living. In particular for housing the difference is ridiculous. In Singapore an MBB salary will get you a shoebox apartment, in KL/Bangkok you can comfortably rent a penthouse.

For 8000 you can get a 1300 square foot condo at the sail. For 5000 you can still get condos around west coast. Upper bukit timah probably about 3500-4000.
