Highly dependent on your work environment. As a mum, I personally wouldn’t think twice about travelling in the first or second trimester, especially if travelling within Australia. It’s a different story if you are being asked to travel somewhere with a higher risk of foodborne illness, higher risk of mosquito illness (like Zika), US states with a lot of abortion restrictions, and after 24-26 weeks (since travel insurance gets dicey).
Pushing back on the clearly communicated responsibilities of your role also is a bad idea going into maternity leave. A lot can change in your company in the up to 12 months of maternity leave, and nothing protects you from a redundancy. You don’t want to make yourself #1 on their list. Plus, a better strategy is to curry favour now for the accommodations you’ll actually need after you return to work, like when your baby has an appointment, when your baby is sick, when you must leave the office to get to daycare before it closes, asking to do your role part-time, etc.
