Working as an audit staff in big 4 shared service centre. It's been 2 years. I really don't like what I do there, also it seems I won't like what I'll be doing there even after becoming senior. Thinking of leaving and joining industry once ACCA qualified. (One more paper left). But people around me discourage that growth potential and earnings in industry are way less compared to public accounting. I know that too but I still want to leave. I'd like to stick to core accounting. Thoughts pls
Advice for conducting virtual interviews? Do you show the interviewer your paper over zoom? Can you get away with keeping some notes nearby to glance at during the interview?
As an immigrant, what has been your experience at your firm? Are you satisfied with the culture, have you experienced any particular discrimination? Firm/industry and location are welcome.
I thought once you are manager you can’t invest in these big companies because your firm may provide one or more services. As a manager, can you invest in apple stock if you are in tax and don’t work on any project relating to apple company?
It just occurred to me that part of why I like posting on Fishbowl is that no one knows my gender
I think is this the biggest and most important project being built in the space. The CEO is on the Baird of directors of the enterprise Ethereum alliance and is leading the development of private blockchains for enterprises. His project will connect private blockchains to the public Ethereum network. Curious of peoples' thoughts? Token sale is in 12 days https://aion.network/
Staffed most of the year but low utilization (<40%) due to partners asking team not to bill. I have read other posts that say to ask for non-charge code when this happens. If projects are (continued)
What's the harshest thing your Buyer has ever said to you? Ex: Buyer emailed my colleague "instead of sharing photos of our empty shelves why don't you spend your time getting us more product"
Mck 🐠: Looks like McK hires laterals into AP roles. What are the downsides to being a lateral associate partner? Is progression slower? How about compensation? Typically what years of exp do APs have?
Hello - I am looking to begin a career in UX Design. I do not have a portfolio, but have been exposed to ux tools such as, Figma, AdobeXD, and inVision as well as some Photoshop experience. I also have experience in conducting UX research while I was attending school. Any advice on applying without an actual portfolio? Is it possible? Thank you!
If I was going to make a transition to another firm (possibly Tier 2 or Big 4), when would be an appropriate time to do so? I have about 9 months of experience with IBM thus far. Wait 2 years? Less?
Hi all.. looking for some advice on how to start a conversation with my manager about seeking a full time offer after my internship ends in a couple of weeks. We’ve never really had any 1-1 on progress updates or check ins. Would this be a red flag?
We always talk about diversity as being important, which it is, but if you don’t have diversity of thought what’s the point. We’re selling products to the masses not our very small advertising bubble.
Just got an offer for amazon hardware. I'm worried about the culture. Anyone have experience working there?
New manager salary (B4) in SF Bay Area?
Is it normal to get basically zero feedback? Brand new associate working at a mid sized firm. Been there a few months now and firm is still WFH. I get a fairly consistent amount of work. But I send my work product off into the ether and typically hear nothing or very little back (even when I follow up). I’ve gotten same vague “good work” feedback but that’s about it. I’ve drafted memos to clients and some briefs that have been sent/submitted nearly verbatim, so I assume that’s a good sign.
What’s the dress code for virtual interviews now? Have a first round with BCG and debating if a crisp shirt will be fine, or if I need a suit? It’s also super hot, so don’t want to be sweating the whole time 😓
Looking for career advice. Worked in Supply Chain and Strategic Sourcing for 8 years, at Northrop and currently at Amgen. MBA from USC. Exploring options of moving over to Supply Chain Consulting or M&A. I would appreciate any feedback on recommended career paths.
