Deloitte experienced hires, who all received written offers and in process of visa/ onboarding, have you heard back anything about hiring freeze? Or recruiter asked you to delay joining date?
My visa got submitted couple of days back and waiting for decision. When I reached out to recruiter to give her an update and mentioned once there’s decision will discuss on the start date before putting my 2 weeks, she mentioned “Yes, we should talk before you put notice” - Am I overthinking? When you feels it power, you will know. You hold it - it’s weighted, perfectly balanced. It makes you feel - loved. Special. Above the masses.
Let's see Paul Allen's card
If you take advantage of all the rebates, it’s pretty inexpensive or even pays for itself.
I consistently use these ones:
- Clear = $190/yr
- Streaming Services = $240/yr
- Uber Cash = $200/yr
That’s $630.
Others I use less consistently or not at all:
- Hotel credit via Amex website = $200/yr
- Walmart+ = $155/yr
- Equinix Gym = $300/yr
- Saks = $100/yr
- Airline fee = $200/yr (I get out of fees via status)
Add in the lounges. No brainer.
@BAH1, Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+ are the ones I use.
No one, it's IQ tax
Send me $500; I'll email a monthly heartfelt note stating how special you are, and you can keep your existing plastic. that's nearly $200 in savings!
You can return it to Amex by mail. They’ll send you an envelope with a return address if you request it
Rising Star
Year 1, definitely even without travel.
Year 2 and beyond, if you travel relatively frequently.
Fun Fact: if you have a corporate Amex, you can get $150 knock off your annual plat membership fee
Year 1 SUB and credits make it an easy choice. After year one it’s a lot more questionable.
If the perks you get from it from stuff you’d otherwise pay for anyways, it’s a no brainer.
Exactly.
the benefits are pretty explicitly laid out on NerdWallet; just go through them and if you're sure you'll use more than the annual fee then it's a no-brainer
I’m a new holder of the plat. Needed a dinner res at a 3 star Michelin restaurant (Le Bernadin) but all booked up.
Messaged the Plat concierge through the Amex app, 2 days later I had a table for dinner on the exact day (anniversary) that I needed.
A week later I got my 150k bonus points. Also getting credits for $169 for Clear, $20 a month for NY Times, $15 a month Uber Eats…if these things align for you it’s a no brainer. Uber VIP status is nice plus, and I know I’ll enjoy the airport lounges when the time comes.
It should be an obvious decision if it creates value for you or costs you more than you receive. I wouldn’t carry the card if the freebies and concierge didn’t make it worth more than the annual fee.
Also, Plat comes with a free additional gold card ($250 value). 4x points on groceries and restaurants. Take it out for your SO and let them pay for dinner, it goes to the same account.
Also it looks SAF and people like me better when they see me whip it out cuz it’s metal and shiny and has good balance.
Ya know, I was just about to check that since my first month rolled over. Thanks for the heads up. Confirmed this is correct. Probably going back to Chase Sapphire as primary…
We recently began working with a financial advisor from Morgan Stanley. They now offer a checking account where you can get the AMEX Platinum Card annual fee waived. There are some requirements like at least $5,000k direct deposit and $10k being managed in a brokerage account but nothing too crazy.
O_o this sounds solid.
