Who’s better for life sciences consulting, MBB or smaller shops like Clearview, LEK etc.? How does the type of work differ?

smaller, clients trust way more lol, you get way better experience and more meaningful interaction and value w the client.

i disagree a lot with the person above. it depends on what you’re looking for. if you’re literally just looking for name recognition, your answer is pretty clear. if you’re looking to actually provide value and learn..

like

That’s implying that MBB doesn’t 1. Have meaningful, trusting relationships with clients 2. Add value 3. Teach its people skills and content

We’ll agree to disagree.

like

MBB unless your offer is from Bain Altanta or some other office with local /regional staffing far away from life science, OR you have an offer from McK/BCG (non-NJ/NY/SF/Boston) and don’t want to travel, period. OR you have a specific interest in niche areas eg HEOR

There’s not really another reason to take a non-MBB offer. Trajectory, comp, exits, seniority of project sponsors are all going to be higher.

Content-wise - MBB will do more corp/BU strat and org, less of the BU level functional area-specific pieces of work. There’s other posts on this

like

Isn't there a caveat that MBB doesn't generally allow you to specialize into life sciences when you first join / are a junior? I've always wondered, if so many people leave MBB after 2 to 3 years, do you actually get meaningful life sciences experience compared to life sciences focused shops in that period of time if they expect you to be a generalist?

like

Thanks that makes sense. And would you say in general that MBB prefers to staff life sciences PhDs on these engagements over undergrads or MBAs? Basically, is competition fiercer to get those engagements even if you're in the right geography? I'm not disputing the strength of MBB life sciences because they are no doubt top notch, just curious about how realistic it is to even get to work in that area of the firm

In healthcare, knowledge and experience tend to be more important than intelligence alone.

Most core life sciences and healthcare subject matter expertise tends to reside in the northeast corridor and bay area.

LEK, EYP and ZS are strong in their lanes but Mckinsey and BCG have a lot of breadth and depth in the space. For operations and technology it tends to be Deloitte.

Hi Team,

I joined Mindtree on 8th Feb and not got project and I was waiting for last 2 and half month. So, i gave interview outside (tech mahindra) and got selected. Almost 30-35% they said they will give and i am negotiating on it.

My main concern was shift and i have some health issues and unable to continue in night shift in Mindtree and tech mahindra its purely EMEA shift and per project team update.

Shall i switch to tech Mahindra?

Did anyone get interviewed for enterprise architect position at Collibra. Would like to know the experience and the process.
