It's not really the "sexiest" career if that makes sense. We're not like marketers directing massive campaigns, doctors saving lives, or engineers designing the next big thing
Our role doesn't really get much exposure in popular media or in everyday conversations. No one's ever raving in the news about some hotshot supply manager
there's too many more advantages with getting other degrees. it's much easier to change careers into supply chain vs getting a supply chain degree and transitioning into something else. Speaking as someone who studied chemistry and worked at companies where almost none of the people got supply chain degrees. Just from experience, most studied engineering, finance, business.
tbh I would never suggest supply chain degrees for anyone just because it locks you in more to a specific path as opposed to other degrees. it's hard to decide if supply chain is your calling until you work in it for a while.
