Why do we feel guilty when we call off work? I just started a new job and had to call off. Two others also missed work for being sick as well, so I definitely caught whatever they have. I am still sick, but being new, I don’t want to call off another day. I already worked one day sick before I called off….

You have work ethic. My advice as a manager of over 25 years is take care of yourself. I’ve missed fewer than 10 in a quarter century. If you’re not a regular on the call off list you have nothing to worry about.

like

Indeed. I only call out if it’s absolutely necessary. And others called out for the same reason as well, so they knew something was going around

You feel guilty because you don’t want to leave a bad impression. Your job will think that you’re not reliable. I would go see a doctor and get a doctors note. I’m having the same problem with my coworkers and management does say or do anything about them. Your health is more important than anything.

like

Unfortunately I don’t have insurance yet; they make you wait 90 days. I’d have to pay quite a bit to see a doctor and get that note. It all worked out, they understood, especially since others were sick as well

Getting over heartbreak and having a full time job is torture lol. My boyfriend and I just broke up after almost a year of being together. It was such a beautiful relationship but ultimately he just didn’t love me. I love him so much. My mind knows that I deserve reciprocal love and I’m worthy, but I feel physically ill. My body hurts, my stomach is in knots, my head hurts. How is it that I have to mend a broken heart but also meet my billable hours lmao

Just completed my last shift in the ICU. I'm glad to be shifting back to the Maternatity ward. It was exhausting, and emotionally draining working with such sick patients. I know the work we did made a big difference, but I'm glad to go back to my favorite role!

Anyone have ideas for jobs that are a mix between administration and clinical work? I went to school for community health and have a lot of manager/patient coordinator experience under my belt, but I'm also a volunteer EMT and would like to start using those skills in my next job that I'm searching for.

Most titles I've found interesting are along the "medical assistants" role, but don't fit the bill cause I don't have an MA license

Studied accounting and finance but worried about the future of this profession. Currently working in Forensic Consulting but want to leave. Should I go back to undergrad and get a computer science degree? I honestly want a career where I could at least potentially make 600 k per year. I feel in accounting it’s near impossible. Additionally, I’m sick of people looking down on me. My gf is getting a PhD in a social science and gets way more respect then me. I am 25 also. HELP
