Why does it feel like my coworkers don’t like me? I show up, do my job, and try to be helpful, but I’m left out of their conversations and never invited to lunch. I’ve tried being friendly with new hires, but they always seem to join the group too. I know work isn’t about making friends, but is it wrong to just want to feel accepted? Am I overthinking this, or are they just a clique I don’t need to worry about?

Mid level atty in a fast moving case. Earlier this year jrs brought on the team to help lessen work flow. Both partner and I delegate certain tasks, esp when we’re super busy. Junior goofed regarding deadlines (which I had to ask for twice); now partner is stressed, tho we should be able to lock in an extension. Jr took ownership of the slip up. How do you deal with making mistakes at work? I’ve been doing good work lately but there’s one partner who thinks I’m mistake prone and I just made a mistake on something he asked me to do, but I corrected it quickly. However, there is public record of my mistake.

Over the past year, my counsel is constantly judged by a select few senior business folks (eg arguing over FTC compliance, IP risk counsel, and even simple things regarding NDAs that any attorney wouldn’t question. It’s very frustrating that my own team is the one I have to defend my logic to (and not opposing counsel). It feels like they want a rubber stamper, which is not me.I never faced this at my prior in-house roles (probably because they were much a larger). Any advice on how to handle?

What should I reasonably expect from a junior?

I manage a junior developer that's been with the company for about 18 months. I end up providing them of TON of support. I need to give them extremely detailed instructions or they fail. For bugs, I need to point them to a specific function that's causing the bug. For new features, I'm basically writing their method signatures and defining their test cases.

I've tried asking them to do more on their own, but when I do, they fail spectacularly.

How do you get through to a client who doesn't get the cultural references in your work because they're too old and frankly uncool without saying "hey you're old and uncool, I know better"??!

Does Next Gen issue a formal report for PGS testing results? I had my embryos tested and my clinic just told me which were normal and abnormal. No other info on embryos ratings, etc. they could have not even sent it in for all I know!
