I’m a manager and one of my direct reports makes more than me. It really bothers me. Anyone else been in this situation before? What’s the best way to handle it?
If partners from certain practice groups KNOW that our practice is completely buried and that associates are working beyond capacity, why do they like to act as if their deal is the only deal we are on?
What do you do when ‘talent’ is sourced by the client and only they are allowed to talk to them and relay info you need from them?We have to film them at their house, with their own supplied wardrobe and props for the shoot (for budget reasons). What have we not gotten yet a day and a half before the shoot? Location photos, approval to tech scout at location, wardrobe photo options, or props that they claim they have…. I’m just bracing myself for a shit show.
I have never seen anyone display as much grace as Barbara Walters when her co-anchor (Harry Reasoner I think) was so dismissive and rude to her; she just smiled and kept doing her job. If I end up with even half that level of class, I will consider it to be a win
Has anyone told their boss/manager about their social anxiety and how it impacts their work? Is this a bad idea?
Hello so I recently had a situation. I worked at an office for 10 years. I asked the supervisor for help and she has a tantrum. Starts yelling, what do u want? Ripping up my schedules for the next day. After all the commotion I go to her office to talk to her and she starts throwing away her lunch, mind you it 4 pm and saying I guess I get no lunch today, what can I do for you? What would you have done?
My manager gets mad at me for sending things out without him telling me to, then he also gets mad when I don't send things out because I'm waiting for his go ahead. What the fuck...
What's your worse experience working in customer support? Here's mine: I was working in the call center and I was explaining to a customer that he had used up all his credit and that's why he couldn't surf the Internet on his phone. He started to insult me for 8 minutes and, due to company policies, I could not hang up until he had finished.
I have a manager that does not seem to understand mental illnesses, disorders, etc. He thinks I am making excuses rather than trying to explain things (I have diagnosed ADHD, anxiety, and depression) and I’m trying to take ownership for issues but also help him understand what I am describing better as well. We are sitting down for a conversation later this week. Any advice on how to gently educate or help with his understanding of neurodivergence and other mental health considerations?
How do I manage someone who has no passion for what they do? Better yet, how do I inspire them?
There are too many men out there who think that just because I'm being polite, it's a sign that they should flirt with me while I'm at work. I thought this was 2022, why haven't we as a society gotten past this yet?
For a virtual interview at big four what is the appropriate attire to wear?
Comment the weirdest workplace romance story you've witnessed.
I planning on giving notice to my mentor and boss, who I’ve worked with for years. We’ve basically become close friends but I need to get out of litigation for my mental health and family. Also, my current pay is way under market. She’s probably going to take this personally. How do I let her down gently? Is 3 weeks notice too much?
2 wks into a new job - boss is already inundating me with work, gives direction then questions me on why I followed it 🤯 looks visibility disgusted when plans don’t look like what they expected (but didn’t set any expectations) and then starts asking Qs about my exp which sends me into a panic. I’m anxious all day. They say all the right things on 1:1s and that they want my feedback so we can work well together but I don’t believe it. Can I come back from this? I love the company

My coworker really hopped on a team call with a button up shirt and his hair did. We know you're interviewing since you usually wear hoodies and have bed head.

Are you responsible for giving performance feedback? Avoid giving personality based feedback. Examples include telling an Asian person they are too quiet/shy or telling a Black person they are agressive/abrasive. DO NOT DO THIS. It clearly represents bias in Performance Management. Performance feedback should be tied to business outcomes with clear examples of what the person does well + how they can improve.
Is there a corporate way to bring up to senior leaders that an IC is causing issues across multiple teams because they are demanding and also doesn’t collaborate well? The IC gives vague “direction” then says they are too busy to clarify. They also refuse to use our project management/ collaboration tools.
What is the funniest and/or most awkward Zoom moment you’ve had at work? I worked at LinkedIn and one of the senior leaders was sharing screen during a meeting. The conversation shifted but the leader didn’t stop sharing screen. This person navigated to Yahoo news and clicked on an article filled with women in bikinis. This individual spent a solid 2-3 mins on the article scrolling and stopping to look at each woman. Needless to say this leader was very distracted by other things on our call.

In what order do you draft a patent application? I know the official answer is “it depends.” But what do you find yourself do most often? For me, it’s claims —> drawings —> spec.
Button-up with rolled-up sleeves while wearing a tie? I’ve seen almost no one wear a tie and I personally think having a shirt tucked in without one looks weird. Also ties add more flair. Thoughts?
I’m interviewing for a Director of Marketing and Communications role. Although it’s a little bit of a stretch with things I’ve never done before, I think I could do it. However I’m having a bit of imposter syndrome due to my age (27). I’m worried they’ll take one look at me and assume I’m too young to handle it. Same goes for anyone I’d be managing.Any advice/tips?
Deloitte is haveing a mega recruitment drive scheduled for tomorrow. I need a referral for that. I have 3+ years of experience in DevOps and cloud. Today is my last working. It would mean a lot if someone could refer me.Deloitte
Let's have a guide on how to answer behavioral questions.1. Why do you want to work here? (Eg: why do you want to work for Google?) 2. How did you resolve conflicts with a teammate? 3. How do you efficiently manage time/work with teams that are in a different time zone? Add more questions/answers to this thread. We can have a common place to look it up.
"...likely goes without saying, but obviously we can't..."– an account directorTranslation: "I know it's not my place to say (and everyone knows it) and we'll really have to work hard to get this done (and everyone knows it). But I want to be on record as being against it before there's any whiff of complication or controversy—and before the client has an opportunity to be for or against anything."Ah... teamwork.
Now that I got offered by the peer group firm that I really love to get in, I am so reluctant to do my current tasks and made a lot of mistakes these days looking forward to spending my gardening leave for traveling overseas.Do I have to work hard now?

People who have left customer support jobs, what would it take for you to get back into the industry?
Hello there, I'm a customer support person. My boss just told us to go back to the office when we thought we could permanently keep on working from home. Please cheer me up, and share some pros of working in the office as a customer support agent.
My wife keeps commenting on how I’ve changed since getting this job 3 years ago. I know she’s right, but quitting just isn’t an option right now. Do you have advice for leaving work at work?
I don’t think I can handle customer support any longer but I don’t know where to go from here. What are good career options for people with customer support skills?
Working from home in customer support provides so much flexibility as a stay at home mom. I can take care of the home, my babies and work without feeling guilty ….talk about mutli-tasking!
What changes did you make that improved employee retention?
Is it normal to be ghosted after interviews? I’ve had three recently and not one callback.
I never read the T&C when I sign up for a new site. Yet I admittedly get frustrated when someone calls in and hasn’t read the T&C. This job has turned me into a monster 😂
"You can't please everyone!" Being in customer support for 4+ years, that statement has never been truer.
In this era, 57% of customers pefer live chat that are less likely to seem scripted. I gues humans do value having connections even if it's with their support rep.
My company is receiving backlash for…let’s say a poor decision that has gone viral in my city. For 3 days, almost everyone who has called customer support is just looking to insult and yell at us. This isn’t our fault :/
How has introducing a customer support chatbot changed the interactions you have with customers?

Just say "thank you" and get on with your work. Don't let it distract you from your goal with the client.
You must learn to accept compliments, it is not a bad thing to feel good for nice things that customers say to us, but rather be thankful that they say compliments and not that they insult you, like many people in this job.
