It irks me when someone says I have a "lovely voice," it just makes me feel super uncomfortable and unsure what I should say to them

Just say "thank you" and get on with your work. Don't let it distract you from your goal with the client.

You must learn to accept compliments, it is not a bad thing to feel good for nice things that customers say to us, but rather be thankful that they say compliments and not that they insult you, like many people in this job.

Realizing that at the end of the day, performance is down to who likes you as a person.

I’ve been working for 3 years and noticed that if you like someone as a person, everything annoying or wrong they do, you brush to the side as a quirk. But if you don’t like them, it’s amplified as incompetence and flaws.

Have you been fired before even starting your new job?

I signed for a new job two months ago and will start next month (3 mo notice period in Europe). They were very keen on getting me on-board ASAP before signing but since I signed the contract it has been silent from the new employee. I've emailed them with questions as I'll be re-locating to NL and it takes them 1-2 weeks to reply. Given all that's going on in the world, I'm worried they might fire me before I even start.

What do you do for winter shoes and commuting?

I walk a total ~20 mins in between train/bus stations and then getting from the stop in the loop to the office.

What do I do come wintertime for boots? Do you wear them while you're in the office? Or do you bring dress shoes with you to change in to? I wear a suit to work, so what boots would be good for winter but also look decent with a suit? This is my first winter in Chicago (a socal transplant)

I just left a very toxic work place.
The crazy thing is they were just named the best local municipality to work for. It's upsetting. They advertise a "culture" but don'tapply it. It felt like a used car sales pitch, I was sold a dream but given junk. I am constantly replaying moments. I have read so many books and everything leads to they were the problem. How do I recover from this?

How to deal with people flirting with you at work.
I’m married, and one of my coworkers flirts with me. Nothing super overt, but definitely not professional. We’re good friends and work together constantly because we’re on the same client, so I don’t want to make it awkward. Do I just do nothing and let it go? It is mostly just odd I’m not super offended, but I’m also clearly uninterested!

I’m having a really hard time with my changing body. 13 weeks, I don’t have too many bad side effects of pregnancy or anything so I consider myself lucky (no nausea ever etc) but I’m depressed at work, my skin is completely broken out and showing new broken face capillaries, and I’m not showing a bump yet so I just feel fat and big. I don’t know where this “glow” is but I look in the mirror and literally am grappling with not recognizing myself :( it’s been impossible to find any clothes too.

What clients are Ogilvy working on these days?

I am not necessarily looking for greener grass. I am looking for more a more peaceful place to tend my liitle patch of Adviosry. Many have worked at 2 or more Bigs. Anyone out there who left their previous job for a new one have any advice or life experience to share? I also feel a bit stagnant in my job but the job security has kept me put. Would love to hear if leaving a comfortable job for more money is always worth it.
