Read this book:
Out of Architecture by Jake Rudin and Erin Pellegrino
Really digs into how and why the industry is broken and gives you perspective on what else you can do with the knowledge and skills you have.
Also talks about licensure and whether or not it holds the value you think it does.
Be introspective and ask yourself is there anything you could be doing to improve your situation at the firm where you are now. 3 years in is not enough time to learn about the field, practice & business of architecture! I’ve seen this a lot-young people, ambitious, don’t know what they don’t know, get frustrated because they are not promoted fast enough/paid more/given more responsibilities etc. Obviously I don’t know your specific situation, but it does sound familiar, based on my 30 years in this business. Take a step back & maybe explore another aspect of the practice. Talk to leadership, but be humble! Let them know what you want to do, but be willing to listen & take constructive criticism. And it’s doubtful you could be hired as a construction manager without understanding the practice & business. Good luck!!
