Why is CoCounsel/WestLaw Deep Research so slow?

I feel like other AI tools (e.g. CoPilot) can draft a SCOTUS brief in like 8 seconds. WestLaw’s tools are really good, but why does it take 10 minutes to generate a report?

I don't know the answer, but I have to think waiting 10 minutes for something generated by a tool designed for legal work is well worth the wait, compared to the absolute trash you're going to get from CoPilot in 8 seconds.

Oh, for sure— CoPilot is junk at substantive legal work, but it’s striking just how much faster it is.

I’ve been fully utilized starting ~June, but first few months were slow. Am i fine?!

Tips for bankruptcy associates who eventually want to move in-house? 3rd year associate in bankruptcy/restructuring group doing mainly bk lit but a few deals too. Need to stay in BL for at least another year for the money, but eventually want to move in-house. Any tips for someone who’s practice is a bit of a hybrid (and who will never likely do discovery or handle a depo)

Boomer. I am in between jobs. Laid off in 10/21 after 16+ yrs, with an ABA firm. RIF. Still on excellent terms. Took my time living off generous package and didn’t seriously start applying until 01/22. Made a rookie mistake and accepted first offer.
Turns out job wasn’t as advertised. Mutual parting of ways 3/22. Due diligence is critical.
Now interviewing a LOT. Some temp work, I still have “it”. I relate to all gens. Willing to mentor AND learn from all. Tech savvy, CTE from day one. Leads?

Working on some law firm applications tonight and it sucks that I know that I am so capable and have a strong work ethic but firms can’t see beyond grades or the fact that I didn’t go to a t14 law school or prestigious undergrad. I’ve worked twice as hard and feel like I’ve barely even gotten half as much. It’s discouraging sometimes especially because I worked so hard with pretty much no guidance (first gen, poc, low-income) to get into college and do well and then get into a t30 law school

For those at free market firms, how frequently do you have to ask for work? How do you typically ask? Just send partners emails asking if they have any deals for you? Thanks y’all.
