Why is the Big 4 offering a salary that is much lower than I expected?

What is your opinion on adding Big 4 experience to my career and then transitioning back to private equity? I currently enjoy working in the PE industry, but I feel that my resume lacks the Big 4 accounting experience. What are your thoughts on continuing in the PE field while incorporating the Big 4 career path to strengthen my resume?

We had evaluations and normally we have annual raises. I think my salary is under market value at $68k (plus OT) in Los Angeles (5 years of experience). I was told I am one of the top employees in the firm. When I asked about a raise, I was told “when you think about it at your level 5k to 10k doesn’t really matter it’s the long term goal that matters”. What would be your response to that, to a partner who is making 500-600k a year?

Thinking having a 24’ HD and a 28’ 4K monitor setup. Is 4K for excel not necessary? How about 28’ monitors?
