This current round of protests is useless and senseless. The purpose of protests is to try to prompt change by bringing attention to a situation or issue that you disagree with. What do these protesters want to achieve? End the war in Gaza. Good. Nobody likes war. Only problem is, the government that might listen to them -- the U.S. government -- isn't involved in that war and the government that is -- Israel's -- doesn't care what a bunch of Palestinian-sympathizing, Jew-hating college kids want. Their passion and efforts could be spent on so many more worthwhile causes -- education, homelessness, hunger, health care, etc. It seems they want to protest something they know they have no control over because they just want to play at protesting because Grandma Rainbow made it sound like so much fun.
I think this is really well said. They should be protesting/staging encampments in Washington DC if you ask me. What they’re asking colleges to do is ridiculous and no endowment is going to divest from their investments overnight. I think Northwestern University and Brown University came to reasonable resolutions with their students but also they didn’t resolve any real issues and certainly aren’t solving world peace.
How do you not dive into the politics, esp in this scenario?
Also this a history lesson. We saw same thing play out in the late 1960s on campuses…
Actually, I’m talking specifically about 1968. It was so much more than just being drafted.

If you assert excessive control over a situation, you will be the asshole
There’s power in numbers. It’s not a new lesson, or at least it shouldn’t be.
Agree with the first answer - how should we answer this without getting into politics?
