Just wondering.. L&D Specialist salary and duties for others. Degree? No degree?

As an experienced, SHRM certified HRBP , I would just like some feedback on your opinion of the differences in the roles between an HRBP an HR Manager besides the obvious that the manager should have direct reports. I am an HRBP and work in step with 3 HRM’s. They all 3 just got out of cycle raises of between 5-20% 😳 and I received nothing. I am quite aware of our HR code that salary is confidential but I was told about this. Would you be looking for other employment? Or stay?

We have sales people in Canada and the US, the Canadians make 150K CAD and down here it’s 150K USD, the Canadians argue they should be making 30% more than the US colleagues to be equal bc of the exchange! I explain the salary is dependent on the market data for them in Canada, WHERE THEY LIVE, and you can’t compare it to the US employees and the market data down here. Overall they are both in the 75th% for total comp. for their industry. Am I wrong?

Is there such things as FP&A positions in Big 4? If so, are there better times to make the change than others (I.e. at senior vs manager)? Looking to transition my career from Sales into a Learning and Development or training role. Any tips on how to get my foot in the door somewhere without having a lot of specific experience? I’m a quick learner with a lot of tech industry experience, and knowledge of various systems.

I applied for a Director Learning and Development (L&D) role at McKinsey about a month ago via a referral. About a week ago, my McKinsey employee (who referred me) received an automated email saying that I had moved to the pre-screening process of the recruitment process and that I'll hear from the recruiter shortly.

It's more than a week now and I haven't heard back. Can anyone shed light on the process -- what to expect, timelines, what is the interview process like, etc.

I’m noticing that a lot of recent graduates at my job don’t know many basic computer skills (ie. Copy and paste short cuts or how to use the Microsoft Suite at all). I’ve been tasked with creating trainings to teach them these skills but it’s concerning to see how this new generation is starting to lack these assets. What happened?
