Yes just mark it as “imaginary dream land”.

Because it’s a pitch, if it’s recent, it may contain proprietary information that the client would want to keep private. You could get in trouble if they find out you put it out there. If it’s recent, I would put that particular project under password. If it’s been a long time, then you’re probably ok. Just disclose in your description that it was for a pitch.

Does it scream 'spec work'? If so, I'm not sure. As an ACD, you're a bit too senior for that in your portfolio. But if one can't tell a difference - go for it!
At acd level, you get a lot less credit for work that didn’t get produced. It’s not that you can’t put it in, but it’s probably worth focusing on producing real work that is as good.
I agree. But clients are clients and great produced work is hard to find when agencies are eating themselves and no longer fight to do great work (for fear of losing a client). As an ACD, there’s only so much you can do if CDs and ECDs won’t support the effort (for fear of losing their own jobs).
The last 4 years have been “give the client what they want. It takes a client with vision to agree to work that stands out. Lord knows internal client cultures don’t favor that. That’s why there’s no internal incentives to do better than their predecessor. Simply hit the same numbers as the last person and move up the chain.
Raises more questions than answers
I wouldn’t put it out on a site or anything. But if you’re interviewing with people, share it real time with them. Fake or Real doesn’t matter when your value is the ability to generate great ideas. You probably have plenty of other work that validates your ability to direct and produce. Plus half the sht agencies win awards and clients over with is fake.
I wouldn’t put it in your book, hold onto it, and the time will arise when you'll see a fit for it with a different client.
Yeah, it does raise questions. Especially at ACD level. Keep it in your bottom drawer.
