I got 2. First, missed the east coast 11:59 filing deadline so the only option was to print & bind everything and haul ass like 100 mph through the underground / lower level tunnels of Chicago to the only post office open until midnight to get the official postmark stamp before turning into a pumpkin. Got it 11:58.
Second, this wasn’t my case, but someone left a “what the fuck is the answer to this” in brackets at like page 28 of an Answer to TRO/PI filing ie under significant time pressure, and judge asked if we ever found it

I’m sorry but this is hilarious

I heard of an assistant filing a confidential filing publicly IN THE WRONG CASE (before I joined the firm).

Well, the colloquy went like this:

Court: If I accept everything in your motion as it’s stated, are you entitled to summary judgment?
Me: Yes.
Court: No.

When we had to file in person in Cook County. The senior attorney sent me to the court with a stack of filings. I forgot to file one and I didn’t realize it until after I got back to the office after 5:00 p.m.

So both of their reviews will matter to me ???

As someone who is interested in public interest law (open to impact litigation or policy work), does it make sense to clerk in state court -- trial level -- and if so, for how long? Are these clerkships only useful for becoming a state court judge down the line or can they open doors to other paths?

Ive been practicing in TX for 2-3 years at a big law firm doing mostly bankruptcy work (and some trial) and looking to clerk at a bankruptcy court in SDNY/DDE/EDVA (I am well aware of how great the SDTX judges are but I am set on leaving Texas). Anyone familiar with how many apps these judges normally get or what makes candidates stand out? Are these judges generally not interested in someone who has practiced in a different market?

Other than partner track, salary/benefits, and switching from coverage to general comm lit, what qualities of the move should I be thinking about as I weigh my options?
