CSR fee isn't that much cheaper. Not to mention the amex plat annual fee gets wiped out pretty fast. $200 Uber credit and $200 airline credit reduces you to $100 out of pocket and that's only two of the perks
Amex Plat gets you into delta lounges when flying delta, seems like it would be worth it just for that
If I don’t uber that much and airline credits can no longer be used to buy gift cards, will be harder to justify the annual fee...
Amex platinum gets you delta lounges access when flying delta same day
What are the priority pass lounges like at your airports? What do you use miles for? Star alliance is a pretty great network if you like to uses (United) miles to travel abroad
Do you get Delta lounges with plat amex still?
if you’re a delta loyalist, unless you have the delta reserve card or you keep your diamond status without it, you need the amex plat for the lounge access. unless you’re lucky enough to have a good priority pass lounge.
i have the amex plat and CSR. i use CSR for hotels and rental cards and everything else in my life (eating out - 3x points, alcohol - 3x points sometimes, everything else - best points redemption in the game at 1.5c per point through their travel portal)
Thanks all. Hold onto your hats but I could really care less about lounges. Not a drinker, never seem to spend more than enough time at an airport than to sprint to a gate, work domestically, have WiFi...what am I missing?
I’ve done the research on the Plat and the fee buy-down benefits I’m not sure really get me there: don’t take many ubers, don’t buy ancillary things on planes / don’t check bags (vs CSR’s airline credit which I would receive just based on travel) and now you know I’m basic and don’t care about lounges. So maybe the question I should have asked is: are there effective ways to transfer points to Delta with CSR?
you can’t transfer points to delta with the CSR. but if you book a delta flight using CSR points through their portal, you will redeem at a value of 1.5 cents per point. so that should mostly make up for it
Honestly one of my favorite amex plat perks is the automatic Hilton gold, Starwood gold and SPG gold. You can just challenge to platinum on any of them and it helps relieve some of the stress of trying to stay with just one brand to build status. Emerald Club Executive Elite through national car rental is huge too because you rent a midsize and get any car off the lot. Makes traveling for work much better when you get a Tahoe or Grand Cherokee for the cost of a midsize sedan which is dictated by most firm policies.
