There are a few former colleagues who I’ve gotten friendly with outside of work that I’d be willing to take an exercises class with. We are both into the same kinds of workouts and have chatted about wanting to try different fitness studios around town before.
But would I do a workout as team building for my current team? Nope. I’ve taken a Rumble class before (and loved it), but have no desire for my boss and colleagues to see me in my tight gym clothes, no makeup, and dripping in sweat. 😅 I workout mainly at home now, but when I used to run into people I knew from work at the gym it was kinda awkward…

This is exactly how I feel! I wear makeup everyday. I cringe when I run into friends at yoga
Depends on the intensity of the class. Rumble boxing sounds like a lot, but I might be persuaded to go to a yoga session.
I’m not in any kind of shape either, I feel like that’s something I would normally avoid, but probably be fun and glad I did it after the fact. Especially when it’s with a work team, I feel like it’s more for fun than anything serious. What are your thoughts on it?

I’ll probably do it but not sure I want to wear leggings in front of co workers 🫠
Can you be on the sidelines and just cheer them on? I try not to do things that I don’t actually want to do

I’ve done a class before - it’s a boxing / weights class. Can’t really be on the side
Depends on how comfortable you feel with your team I’d say. For me, if it was with my team I wouldn’t mind. It actually seems quite fun and a good bonding moment or at the least something to connect over whether it turns out to be good or bad.
Sure
Literally your raised and promotions depend on how much ppl like you. Go workout with the team! You don’t have to wear leggings.. you can wear idk a onesie just saying.

Depends on the relationship I have with the team, and if I want to connect with them at all.
Boxing? No. I’ve done a couple of Pilates networking events with a women in finance group and even that was somewhat awkward. It’s the skintight attire that is most at issue. But any team building event should not require or entail large amounts of sweating or any other bodily fluids. Meditation? Sure. Ax throwing? Why not. Walkathon? All day long. But CrossFit or contact sports or boxing? Not appropriate imo. Even if the team is largely young and fit you’re going to make people feel inadequate or forced to skip it. At least with a happy hour you can go and have seltzer. You can’t just linger awkwardly in the corner of a boxing class.
I honestly loath work extra curricular activities. If I have people at work that are honestly my friends, I'll make time to spend with them, but doing a work activity outside of work is just more time away from my family and real friends. I give work way more of my time then I should and unfortunately with the corporate world that's how it is to survive. It's pathetic we have to work so much and then our families get the leftover hours and an occasional vacation. The last thing I want to do is go hang out with the people who already get way more of my time than they deserve. If they want to set up a work activity within working hours, great I'll go. But anything after work is too much. I'll use my time to exercise or have fun the way I want.
