Any thoughts on PwC private practice???
What is the culture like, type of work and reputation of Capco in the Data & Analytics space?
I have some good ex colleagues who moved over there and also looked up on LinkedIn and see lots of seemingly smart and accomplished people in their D&A team in the UK.
I'll ask my ex colleagues too, but wanted to see if people here have any opinion or information on this too.
TIA

Congrats on the offer you will make more than amost Canadian big4 partner and save more too.
Yup
Nearly double your salary and have an opportunity to meet new people (👀), take it and run
I don't think people appreciate that while real estate is definitely very expensive in Canada, most things are actually way cheaper here. Do the math shouldn't just be total comp.
There is healthcare, insurance, etc. Not to mention most things have gotten way more expensive in the US than in Canada.
If you have kids, you will also need to put more money aside for education than in Canada.
Canada is not perfect and we get taxed like crazy but you do get some good perks. Not to mention that Dallas is not the sexiest city out there, and you can be fired at will in the US.
Also what is your immigration status in the US? you have a green card? are you going on a work visa? keep in mind that getting permanent resident/citizen status is a process that can take decades and there are no guarantees.
1. Define “immigrant”? Do you have a Canadian PR or Passport? If not, how much longer do you need to obtain a PR or a Passport?
2. Do you have a partner in Toronto that you are seeing / are serious about?
Move. No brainer in most ways.
Understandable. I had been a nomad for over a decade before dropping roots in GTA.
At least in the current and foreseeable times, and I think longer term as well, US is a better bet for one to drop roots, have a family, and grow career.
For me personally, have some reasons to be in GTA, I will move to US as soon as those reasons are no longer valid. Despite anchors that resist change (e.g. 40 YO, a few properties in GTA, partner’s career etc.)
For the $ and professional opportunities, yes. For the Conservative values, no.
I’m male, but the fact that abortions are essentially prohibited is not something I agree with given my wife’s experience with difficult pregnancies and how it was handled in Canada. I’m also not a big fan of open or concealed carry.
Not Dallas. I would stay in Toronto
Your money would go a lot further in Dallas and I’m not sure what your dating situation is like in Toronto - but maybe a change of social circle / scenery may help. I would definitely move.
It’s not an irreversible decision. You can try it out and always come back if you want.
Million % would move…I lived in Texas when I was in middle school, was great. Big houses, not as expensive, big everything. Would take this move in a heartbeat

I’d take the risk for sure
I’m not sure how moving to Dallas is going to impact your chances of having a family. Do you have a gf/bf in Toronto and they don’t want to move?
I would go. Moving to a new place is both incredibly scary and exciting at the same time. This can be a stepping stone to a whole new world of opportunities. Good luck!
Definitely like Toronto more then Texas, but its a good pay bump. I’d probably take it and give it a shot, worst case you do a year there and it doesn’t work out you just come back home, rent your house out for a year then move back in if its not working out in Dallas
I spent a couple summers in Dallas and to sum it up it's a huge suburb that is hot as hell. It definitely is not a vibrant fun city like Toronto. The people are friendly but they are mostly from the area and have established social circles. I imagine it's harder make friends/date there as a foreigner. Yes the cost of living is lower but as you get older and have a family, consider the cost of healthcare, and probably sending your kid to private school.

Take me with you xD
Dallas is not cheap anymore. Ppl are moving to northern states to get a better quality of life for the same price.
