I would 100% do it. Particularly if you’re able to hang onto and rent out your Toronto house, materially it sounds like there’s very little *actually* keeping you here apart from the notion that Toronto is your forever home, which sounds like a self-imposed thing. And just because you go now doesn’t mean you can’t return someday…with a bag of favourable-exchange USDs in tow.
I would sell the Toronto place and move, get that US passport.
that’s why I said get the US passport then move to any city in the US you want
Not if you generally enjoy Toronto. Not the same vibe in Dallas at all.
It is easier to find a spouse in Dallas than Toronto. You can always move back.

Idk about that… I’m not really into cowboys 🤠
Yes no questions asked
If you can afford to keep your house, I’d consider it. I’m going to ask a bunch of questions for you to not necessarily answer, but think about.
Do you have community in Toronto? As you get older are your friends sticking to Toronto or are they moving out to smaller towns or suburbs? Where are your people day-to-day and how often do you see them? What do you love about the house? Have you ever fantasized about living somewhere else?
Would you be able to cover the mortgage + your COL in Dallas? You will probably need a car in Dallas, and moving a car from Canada to the US is a huge pain. Can you rent out part of your house and keep a room free for yourself for when you visit? Can you rent to a friend or family member who would host you?
What will the work look like? Who will your team be? If it’s international people as well, it might be easier to find community. If everyone is already settled/native to the area, it might be tougher. will the work be challenging/fulfilling/an opportunity to develop new skills you’ve been craving? This isn’t universal, but even “medium-sized” markets in the US have bigger budgets and different opportunities (depending on the field). Why did your boss choose you for this role? Because you’re unmarried? Or because of your skills? How long is the assignment
Is this the only opportunity at this company for growth? Are there other roles here in Toronto that would be similarly compelling to you?
You seem to have some stereotypes about the people who live in Dallas, but they’re not all necessarily cowboys. Dallas is, however, a driving city, and it might feel hard to adjust to. Would you be okay with driving to most places? Even common errands like gym, grocery store, etc. There are quite a lot of single professionals there (maybe even more than some more expensive markets in the US, because of the lower COL), but dating in a car city can feel very different.
What have you been doing to find a partner in Toronto? What has made it difficult? What would make it easier? Do you know what you’re looking for in a partner? Do you know if you want kids/to get married? how soon would you like those to happen?
Are you already a Canadian citizen or would this move slow down your progress towards getting it? If you are, it’s likely they’d put you on a temporary work visa, not on track for US citizenship. Your visa would most likely be tied to employment, and you couldn’t do any work on the side. Would that be okay with you? it would be a few years to get a green card, and a few more years to get citizenship. You probably do not want to become a US citizen if you plan on returning to Canada. US citizens continue to pay taxes to the US, no matter where they live.
It’s a well-compensated role, so I wouldn’t worry much about stuff like health insurance (unless they count that as TC lol).
If you live in Canada, you wouldn’t end up paying US taxes regardless if you’re a US citizen or not, the tax treaty between the 2 countries makes sure that you aren’t double-taxed, and since the Canadian tax rate is higher, you pay the higher of the two, which is not the US tax.
Move
depends what you want in life. Yah have to work at a job 8hrs a day plus commute and expenses etc.. I see freedom and health now a days. If the weather is fine 365 days a year I'd jump on that. I hate TO, grew up there never again. Over priced in my view, traffic, crime, expensive etc... no thanks. I would love to move overseas or central or south america though - some place with a beach, pool and fine fresh food all year around. Low cost of living https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/gmaps.jsp low taxes and did I mention, no winters!
You think crime is bad in Toronto compared to Dallas?
Do it! Just do it! Nothing to lose and so many things to gain.
Is this for a perm assignment?
I would move to any US city from Toronto
As a stepping stone yes
As a final destination no
