Bain & Company Is it truly easier to get in a smaller MBB office?
Have heard a lot for different opinions on these. The logic is that it’s easier because there is a lot of supply in cities like NY, Chicago and SF, but the counter argument is that the offices with less supply are also way smaller and have a lot less demand.

Yes. The wlb will likely be worse. But the outcomes will likely be better. Option 1: you wind up a partner several years from now. You make much more $ at MBB than big 4. Option 2: you exit in a few years. You have access to more and/or better exits than you would have at big 4. Option 3: you crash and burn in 6-12 months. Maybe a wash. As a year of big 4 M experience may not be super valuable in the market, but might be a slight differentiator vs a post MBA role with better branding.
this is correct
Sure why not. You will probably get promoted in the next cycle as long as you perform

I was considering this too. Thought Big4 manager would be more valuable than MBB associate but maybe I’m wrong.
How old are you?

I was considering almost this exact scenario and ultimately did not pursue.
Depends on which MBB

How so?
MBB exit opportunities are much better. I’ve been at a big 4 and then MBB.
Yes.
2nd year associate will become a manager in 0.5-2.0 years depending on partners support

What about t2 same situation?
Think long term. That is the only thing that matters. Stay put if you love your current situation and want to go all the way to PPMD. If you don’t, take MBB. MBB associates > B4 M by a mile as far as exits go. This is not that tough.
