Wtf I️ think the wellness subsidy from d is a scam. So I️ submitted 140 for wellness last month and got it on my paycheck a few days ago and so while my after tax pay is around 2510, with the wellness

Yeah, the subsidy is taxable income.

like

You still got $110 free from Deloitte.

like

Just because you get a benefit doesn’t mean it’s tax free. Why would you assume so?

like

$140 from the subsidy minus $30 you paid in additional taxes = $110 in free money from Deloitte.

like

Op sounds like he needs to go back to DU for basic DTE training

like

It sounds to me like you don’t know how taxes work.... or math? If you use $140 of your subsidy, and you’re taxed $30 in taxes, it will come out of your pay... plain and simple. How else would you suppose you’d pay taxes?

like

OP and SA1 please go back to arithmetic 101 and take common sense 102 while you’re at it

like

No, the extra $100 goes to Amex to pay whatever was charged as fitness subsidy.

like

You will receive $140 in your bank account when the expense reimbursement is done. Taxes are withheld from your paycheque, so your take home pay for the period will be less.

like

Which is considered taxable income, I️ received only 2480....WTF

Yeah, your net pay decreased $30 but you got a $110 worth of value from Deloitte from what ever you spent the subsidy on.

I think he is saying he got 30 bucks less during the period of the wellness payout. It should have been more

SC1, does Deloitte offer a basic math course? If so, I'd seriously recommend you taking it.

No, it shouldn’t have... let’s assume you make 1000 and pay 300 in taxes (700 net). Then you use the subsidy for 100 and need to pay 30 in taxes. Your pay-stub will show 1100 earned and 330 taxed (770 net). However, since you charged your subsidy for 100, your paycheck will be 670.

@SM1, are you saying paystub will say 670 and you will get extra 100 in your account as reimbursement?

Bunch of people are misunderstanding OP. He is saying net pay hitting his account including subsidy is less than what hits his account without subsidy.

Just. Wow

D2-no misunderstanding by those responding, the subsidy is an an expense reimbursement. The taxes come out of your paycheck

In OP's case the extra $110 isn't reimbursed to him directly, it is paid to Amex on his behalf.

Yes D2, that’s how it works...
