Y'all, I'm dealing with some serious imposter syndrome. After 20+ years in mortgage lending, I recently transitioned to another sector in the real estate industry. My anxiety is through the roof and I'm afraid that I will sabotage myself.

How do y'all deal with imposter syndrome? I was a "go to" person for years. Starting over is so hard.

Please know you are NOT alone! That is one way of dealing with imposter syndrome for me. I also slow down for a few minutes and try to think through and process things to get to the root cause and that usually leads me to why I feel like an imposter. I also reflect on the things that I was the SME of! And if all else fails I put on my “win” playlist lol! OutKast's “So Fresh, So Clean” reminds me that I’m “dope” and I got this! You got this! Keep going! You are the REAL thing! 😉

Im currently going through this. All you need is time and training. Anytime I feel like I’m over my head ( which is really just In your head) I remind myself I didn’t get here by sitting still. You got this sis. Once you learn the material you will still be the go to person. You just have to remind yourself every morning why you were chosen for this in the first place. Once I changed my response the outcome changed too

Curious if anyone else is or has been in the same boat. I started as an assistant at an entertainment law firm prior to passing the bar. Upon passing, the partner told me they would hire an assistant for me since I now became an associate. That was 1.5 years ago and I am still in the limbo of juggling my own workload + doing assistant roles for my supervisors. I have also had no increase in pay, which is a huge deal for me. Is this normal in the entertainment world? Any suggestions?

I just spoke with a software architect that went back to school to learn software engineering after law school because it was more lucrative and had less hours. He’s worked his way up and has the skills and authority to work 6:30am-10am and gets to work remotely. We discussed that results/outputs is better than billable time like in law and public accounting. Yet, his parents and others would view him as “lazy” but he does his job and makes a fantastic living. Time>Money and Results>Hours
