EY is not falling apart. Every year when raises and ratings come out people get all crazy because we always want more. EY over the past year has performed great. It seems like we haven't based on vision 2020 that was a lofty goal. We are still growing and raises at EY or any big 4 is gonna be larger that your year after year raises in industry for the most part. The exception being the year you make the transition away from B4
While it's true that EY will be ok, there is a reason you see so many complaints on Fishbowl. The firm is going through a bad phase right now. Morale is generally not great. EY massively over hired and screwed up a hugely expensive internal ERP upgrade. Thus, those financial pressures are being felt by the minions. Overall, EY's salaries are going to be lower than other B4, and bonuses are going to be significantly lower than other B4. If you want to move into B4 from BDO, I would suggest any of the other three firms right now, or just sit tight at BDO. I think most people who aren't on a partner track actually do better at regional/2nd tier firms anyway.
Yes don't join EY. It like joining the Chicago Bulls now, 20+ years after their most recent NBA championship.
*agree with EY1. I'm not a sports person at all so I have no idea what Manager1 is saying 🙃
No EY is great place to work for. Depends upon office n team anyways. Ppl cry in any firm. Best of luck to u. Its BIG 4 and BDO is not.
I have worked at 3 of the Big 4 (not Deloitte) and I can honestly say that EY is an amazing place to work. I have never had more flexibility, felt more appreciated and been more intellectually challenged. I am now a Senior Manager in NTD and work with an amazing group from PPEDD right down to staff
^ I agree with this. People like to complain on FB, so don't take everything on here too seriously haha.
EY is a great place to work. I truly believe that. We haven't met Vision 2020 goals and won't, but we are still growing and are a strong firm.
Some people have been let go over the past year. That happens periodically in PA. We have to estimate how many staff to hire each year based on normal attrition rates and market factors. Sometimes we hire the right amount of people, and sometimes we don't and need to adjust.
Finally, lots of people come onto FB to complain, vent, crack jokes, etc. The griping of a few is not at all indicative of the overall happiness or satisfaction of those in the firm.
Good luck!
I can't imagine EY is worse than other firms- obviously it's not the best lifestyle in the world, but that's public accounting... and generally everything depends on who you're working with. In terms of how well things are going, if things go bad in the market it will effect all firms similarly, and if there are layoffs, I'd rather be looking for a new job coming out of a big 4 than a national firm.
And BDO is what, then? Maybe gonnorhea, that disease you never really hear about, you just know it really sucks. 🤣
Love it here at EY. I work from home 80% of the time in a national practice plus my team is amazing
EY is great. Don't listen to the negativity
Agree with EY 11. I feel like EY is the friendliest and most open of the Big 4. I've been at KPMG and PwC and I'm a lifer at EY
^salary often depends on region, city, line of service, etc. so saying an umbrella statement like that for EY simply isn't true. When I started last year in Risk I was making $3k more than my friends at Deloitte. When I start in PI next year, I'll be making about $8k more than a friend in a similar role at KPMG, less than Deloitte, and about the same as PwC. Sure, I'll agree the lacking bonuses is a drag, but I love working at EY.
They seem to be the only big four that's hiring right now. At least on Los Angeles
Yeah like everyone said big 4 is good when you have a good team and horrible when you have a bad one
Thanks all 🙏🏼
EY can suck a phat one.
All firms and practices go through ups and downs. This year might have been tough but who is to say that it won't be another firm that suffers more next year? My practice had record growth.
Ey is like aids. It was big in the 80's but now cancer is in
