I did a part time masters in CS that's tailored for people without tradditional background. Got a new job after a few classes into the program. I accepted the first offer that I got during covid, looking back, I should have kept interviewing to get into one of the bigger tech companies. You want to send the right signals to get passed the resume screening. I could have done bootcamp or self-study but given this market, an actual degree will probably be a better bet. You don't have to complete the degree to get a job. I actually just finished it after 4 years.
can you please share the program with me too? thank you!
Ay congrats
Continually in awe of how low big 4 pays auditors
What OP did is just the 1st step to get into tech.
I'm pretty sure he did heck of alot more than just getting a CS name on his resume.
You don't just get into Tech by getting a CS degree, it's alot harder to prep for interviews.
Getting into tech is very simple, why do you think it’s riddled with people who have degrees in communication/journalism/etc.
They look more for soft skills like being able to talk to customers/clients/being motivated because tech skills can be taught easily.
This is so good to see. How did you make the transition? Any specific program you attended?
Damn. So proud of you
Looking to make a similar career pivot. Any suggestions on where to start? Things you would’ve done differently?
Congrats OP! What’s the name of the school you went to? Trying to pivot to SWE from risk background. TIA
What is meant by CS?
That's a funny coincidence - my little ones were also born by c-section. I've half-joked about putting them on my resume, because honestly, juggling raising them and switching careers has been way harder than any job or school stuff I've ever done.
What’s FDD advisory
What’s SWE?
