Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
Lol shots fired

Almost every good thing that has happened in my career was a result of something bad happening.
Yes! I interned at an agency for fall and spring semesters my senior year of college. Everyone, including myself, was convinced I would be hired. But one month before graduation, their recruiter told me they were going with another writer.
I was absolutely devastated.
Several weeks later, I accepted a job I wasn't excited about. I was miserable and so sure my career was dead on arrival.
I had no idea I would meet a remarkable mentor there and that, with his help, I'd work for my dream agency in just three years.
Trust the process. Everything really is a learning experience.
I interviewed and made it to the final round to work on a certain cruise account December of last year... VERY grateful that did not work out
I almost took a job at The Richards Group at the beginning of the year... lol between the COVID layoffs and the Stan scandal I probably would’ve lost my job 2x this year 😅 (counting my lucky stars to have landed somewhere else)
I had been laid off and was feeling desperate. I *almost* got a job in-house at Uber. It was between me and another candidate, and they did not choose me. Found out the day before Christmas Eve. I was devastated at the time. Now I thank my lucky stars. Bless them for rejecting me!
additionally, i think i didn’t get a lot of jobs not because i wasn’t qualified but because the hiring manager/team knew i wouldn’t be a good fit and wouldn’t be happy or motivated. later on, i was very thankful for that
I frequently think about how worse of a human I would be today if I had “succeeded”at Zimmerman.
Very true. The first time I was on the job hunt as an ECD I narrowly missed out on five jobs. Looking back every one of them would have been a disaster.
Oh, the one that I did land? Disaster too, lol.
I’ve figured out how to avoid the shitty jobs and accept ones that turn out to be just as bad. Still trying to figure out how to turn it around.
Yes, definitely. I think 2 or 3 of the companies I didn’t get jobs at over the years have now folded
i think sometimes we sense bad things, that don’t consciously surface until years later. and the universe kind of does its thing
