That is a reason why so many people, especially the younger ones just starting out, will change companies every 2-3 years.
They do matter. I got decent raises with a co I was with for 22 years but it didn't keep up with comparable salaries other places. I had to leave for it to increase but it was a difficult road at that point.
Spot on. I wasted too many years being strung along for promotions and raises that never came when I could've advanced my career. I made up ground the past 5 years but certainly advise others to avoid the mistakes I made early in my career.
I had the opportunity to more than double my salary when I was a SM but I stayed and made partner. Guess where I ended up making more money even though it took a few years to match that offer I declined.
Sure job hopping may make your numbers look good but at some point that will stop as well as your career progression.
