Sales salaries are broken into base pay and target pay. Total compensation could be north of 200k if you make your plan. If you don’t make your plan, you could be south of 75k.

Pre sales SE Inside /outside usually 90-120/ 130-200+ OTE on a 70/30 split or 80/20 split Sales - Inside/outside usually 100-120/ 200+ on a 70/30 or 80/20 split inside and 50/50 outside.
If you have no sales experience you may need to start inside.
The sales ceiling is much higher than 200K. Check out the ecosystems group at Accenture. The top sales directors in that group make 2X their base in bonuses; ~$500K for top performing Sr managers.

I don't really want to be a consultant right now. Maybe not anymore. Or if I did come back it'd be for a smaller firm or my own company.
Yes my point guys it’s once you go that path you will be in that sales roles or smaller consulting afterwards and you can make good money
I did mean on the vendor side. At least ideally.
Have a few colleagues that went with sales role in major tech companies. They love it and making good money. You got to love to sell though

Oops. I thought OP meant switching to tech sales on the vendor side. Not sure how sales in consulting works.
