After spending 4 years as a mid-level ops manager, I tried to break into HR through talent acquisition. Now after 6 years in TA, I've had a hard time getting out of it. My goal was always to get into a more broad HRBP position, but I've since worked for smaller orgs without a solid HR career path. When I ask about my career goals, they keep telling me, "Soon!" Or "Maybe in 6 months!"

How do you handle people’s kids showing up on video meetings? Screaming, kicking, hamming it up, (wasting time.) Everyone else is coo-ing…I’m not a kids person. Heard a technique which is to drop off the call bc you “assume the call is over” (which seems like a great way to get fired especially if it’s a way higher up’s kids - plus it feels rather passive aggressive.) Freelancers, do you actually benefit from having an S Corp? Assume someone is earning about $100k in 1099s and $150k in W9s. Everyone says “oh get an s corp for taxes” but does it ACTUALLY help lower your taxes? (Also, can you get ALL 1099s if you bill through your s corp and does THAT help?) Everyone who insists on it says things like “yeah I’m not sure how, but it helps” or “this is my first year doing it.”
